HOUSTON – A Harris County tenant is filing a lawsuit against her landlords after allegedly slipping and falling in a puddle of water on the property.
Plaintiff Jeanette Williams filed the lawsuit in the Harris County District Court against Monza Property Holdings, LP, doing business as The Park at Monza, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, Williams was a tenant renting a Harris County property from the defendant. She claims that on May 10, 2023, she was entering her home through the front door when she slipped in a puddle of water that had accumulated from a leak, causing her to fall and severely injure herself. Williams claims that the defendant had been notified multiple times of the leak but had taken no action to correct the hazardous condition.
Williams states that the defendant negligently failed to properly maintain and inspect the premises to protect the safety of its tenants and failed to provide proper warning of the hazardous condition on the premises.
Williams claims that as a result of the defendant's negligence, she has sustained bodily injuries, which have caused her pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, and lost wages, and that her injuries will impact her ability to earn income. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover from her injuries.
The plaintiff is seeking a judgment for damages plus interest, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Michael Alan Shand of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
