The University of Houston Law Center has been selected by Law.com as a 2024 Go-To Law School, an annual ranking of the nation’s top 50 law schools based on the highest percentage of J.D. graduates hired as associates by Big Law. This year, UHLC advanced nine spots to No. 23 on the Go-To list.
“I am pleased that UH Law Center placed No. 23 in Law.com’s Go-To Law School rankings. It demonstrates the strength of the underlying UH Law Center program of legal education and the faith that the largest law firms have in our overall enterprise, especially in our outstanding law school students and graduates. It also demonstrates the power of legal education where UH Law provides the training and skill to our law school students, many of whom are of first-generation college backgrounds, enabling them to compete at the pinnacles of the legal profession.
“Many thanks to UH Law’s Career Development Office under the leadership of Assistant Dean Tiffany Tucker and her team of excellent career counseling professionals. Their fortitude, empathy, and commitment to our law school students help fuel the students’ ultimate success,” UHLC Dean Leonard M. Baynes said.
Dr. Diane Z. Chase, University of Houston Provost and Chief Academic Officer, noted that “UH Law’s legal education is exceptionally strong. The Law Center is an engine of upward mobility for students and a source of highly qualified graduates for local and national employers. I am delighted that the nation’s 100 largest firms have confidence in the Law Center’s mission and educational prowess, placing it as #23 in the nation in supplying these law firms with UH Law’s newly minted legal eagles.”
The Career Development Office (CDO) at UHLC offers a full range of resources and services to assist both students and employers.
“The University of Houston Law Center is well known for producing practice-ready graduates who excel in fast-paced legal environments with complex and sophisticated cases and deals. More Big Law firms vie to recruit our students each year, and we consistently cultivate relationships within these firms to help create more opportunities for our candidates,” said Tiffany J. Tucker, Assistant Dean for Career Development.
The Law Center is located in Houston, a leading legal market housing the world’s largest healthcare and medical complex and serving as the energy capital, home to multiple Fortune 500 headquarters.
