Chemical release at Oak Grove Power Plant results in lawsuit

HOUSTON - A lawsuit seeking more than $1 million in damages has been brought against the Oak Grove Management Company and several others over a chemical release at the Oak Grove Power Plant.

Richard Strange, Brandon Warren and Blake Yawn filed their suit on March 19 in Harris County District Court, also naming Rentech Boiler Systems, GCB Industries, Gulf Coast Boiler, Vistra and Luminant Energy Company as defendants. 

According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 6, 2023, the plaintiffs were working at the plant to renovate an auxiliary boiler. Without warning, they were engulfed by a thick white chemical cloud. They were airlifted for emergency hospital care. 

The plaintiffs are alleging negligence and gross negligence. 

They are represented by the law firms of Tracey Fox & Walters, Ernest Cannon & Associates and Palmos, Russ, McCullough & Russ.
