Rekeysha Roy has filed a lawsuit against Methodist Health Centers, also known as Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. The case ID is 2024-27635 and was filed on April 30, 2024. The plaintiff alleges that due to medical malpractice by the hospital staff, she suffered severe injuries leading to permanent disability.

The plaintiff claims that on May 1, 2022, while under the care of ICU nurses and respiratory therapists at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital following surgery for a necrotizing fasciitis infection to her breast and resulting sepsis, she experienced a severe health crisis. According to court documents, her oxygen level dropped significantly and she went into cardiac arrest due to alleged negligence by the hospital staff.

As a result of this incident, Roy suffered acute hypoxic respiratory failure, acute metabolic encephalopathy and her cardiac ejection fraction dropped to 35%. She now suffers from permanent neurologic disability, cardiac injury, inability to walk or communicate clearly, incontinence, inability to work or care for herself.

Roy is seeking damages for her injuries claiming they were a direct result of negligence by the defendant. The exact amount has not been specified but exceeds the jurisdictional minimums of the court.
