Nonprofit and Tax-Exempt Organizations attorney Nykolas McKissic will be speaking on two panels at the West Texas Rural Philanthropy Days 2024 conference, an event that aims to bridge the gap between rural West Texas nonprofits, funders and educational resources. Designed and led by West Texas community leaders, the conference facilitates connections, builds relationships among stakeholders and educates funders on the region's unique needs and services. Mr. McKissic will host two presentations during the event. In the first session, he will provide an overview of legal challenges that may arise when fundraising, focusing on areas such as restricted gifts and silent auctions. In the second panel, he will explain the basics of the IRS Form 990, including how it can act as a resource for donors and a way to market an organization
