A slip-and-fall incident at a nail salon has led to a lawsuit that could have significant repercussions for the business involved. On July 8, 2024, Mabisha Stubblefield Crawford filed a complaint in Harris County Civil Court against Julian Nails, Diemphuong 1980 Corporation doing business as Julian Nails, and Quang Nhat Hoang.

According to the court documents, the plaintiff, Mabisha Stubblefield Crawford, alleges that she sustained serious injuries due to a hazardous condition on the premises of Julian Nails located at 4814 Martin Luther King Blvd., Houston, Texas. The incident occurred when Crawford visited the salon for manicure and pedicure services. She claims that she slipped and fell because of water leaking from a pedicure chair onto the floor—a dangerous condition that the defendants knew or should have known about.

Crawford's complaint outlines several accusations against the defendants. She asserts that they failed to properly inspect and maintain the flooring area to discover such hazardous conditions. "Defendants negligently permitted its floors to become slippery and wet from a leaking pedicure chair," states the filing. Additionally, she accuses them of failing to provide adequate warnings about the unsafe condition and not taking timely action to address it.

The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief amounting to $250,000. This sum includes compensation for medical expenses incurred due to her injuries, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish in both past and future contexts, as well as any potential future medical issues arising from her injury. Crawford argues that her injuries were directly caused by the negligence of Julian Nails and its associated entities.

The lawsuit demands judgment against all defendants jointly and severally for damages within the jurisdictional limits of the court. Furthermore, it seeks pre-judgment interest from the date of injury through the date of judgment at a legal rate, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs of court proceedings, and any other relief deemed appropriate by law or equity.

Representing Mabisha Stubblefield Crawford is an unnamed attorney who submitted this petition on her behalf. The case will be heard by an honorable judge in Harris County Civil Court under Case ID 1230827.
