A Harris County resident has filed a lawsuit against a Delaware-based company following a slip-and-fall incident at the company's plant. Thomas Webb lodged the complaint against Covestro, LLC in the District Court of Harris County, Texas on July 25, 2024.

According to the petition, Webb was an invitee at Covestro's Baytown plant on August 25, 2022, when he slipped and fell due to a slick substance on the floor. The plaintiff asserts that Covestro knew or should have known about this hazardous condition but failed to provide any warnings. "Defendant breached its duty to Plaintiff by failing to adequately warn Plaintiff of the condition and failing to make the condition reasonably safe," reads the complaint.

Webb's legal team argues that Covestro's negligence led directly to his injuries. The petition outlines several alleged failures by Covestro, including not maintaining a safe floor, not providing adequate warnings about the unsafe condition, and not removing the slick substance. Additionally, it claims that Covestro did not place non-slip mats or use non-skid materials in areas where such substances were likely to spill.

The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief between $250,000 and $1,000,000 for various damages including physical pain and mental anguish, loss of wage-earning capacity, physical impairment, disfigurement, and medical expenses. Webb has also demanded a jury trial as part of his constitutional right.

Representing Thomas Webb is Eric D. Nielsen from The Nielsen Law Firm P.C.

The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-47053 and will be presided over by Judge Joshua Hall in the 333rd Judicial District Court of Harris County.
