A Harris County resident has filed a lawsuit against a local trampoline park, alleging severe injuries due to the facility's negligence. Fernando Maldonado filed the complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on July 31, 2024, naming MMB Trampoline Investments LLC d/b/a Altitude Trampoline Katy as the defendant.
According to the court documents, Maldonado was celebrating his nephew’s birthday at Altitude Trampoline Park located at 24952 Katy Ranch Road in Katy, Texas, on July 14, 2024. During his visit, he participated in various activities including the Basketball Trampoline Dunk. While jumping on this attraction, Maldonado's foot went through a hole in the trampoline with such force that he suffered a compound fracture to his lower leg. The plaintiff asserts that this injury was caused by the defendant's failure to maintain safe equipment and ensure patron safety.
The complaint details several allegations against Altitude Trampoline Park. It claims that the company failed to provide a reasonably safe environment for its patrons and allowed them to jump on unsafe or compromised surfaces. Additionally, it accuses the defendant of failing to warn visitors about these dangers and not properly training or monitoring their employees to follow safety protocols. The lawsuit states that these acts of negligence directly resulted in Maldonado’s severe injuries which are described as permanent and life-altering.
Maldonado is seeking monetary relief exceeding $1,000,000 for medical expenses incurred from doctors, hospitals, nurses, medicines, and other services both past and future. He also seeks compensation for physical pain and mental anguish experienced both previously and anticipated in the future. Furthermore, Maldonado requests damages for physical impairment and disfigurement resulting from the incident.
The plaintiff demands a jury trial and prays for judgment against Altitude Trampoline Park for all applicable damages as determined during trial. This includes pre-judgment and post-judgment interest at the highest legal rate allowed by law along with court costs.
Representing Fernando Maldonado is attorney William Adams from Adams Law Firm located in Katy, Texas. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-48619 under Judge Talitha McCarty of the 269th Judicial District Court.
