A Texas woman is suing two companies after a gas pump structure collapsed on her and her car, causing serious injuries. Virginia Berronez filed the complaint in Harris County District Court on August 7, 2024, against Aaron Investment Group, LLC and Criss Cross Commercial, LLC.

According to the lawsuit, Berronez was pumping gas at a station owned and operated by the defendants on May 16, 2024, when the gas pump structure suddenly collapsed. The plaintiff claims that she is fortunate to be alive today. The complaint alleges that the defendants failed to take necessary precautions to ensure the property was properly inspected, maintained, repaired, installed, and constructed. "Defendants knew or should have known about the risks and failed to address them adequately," reads the petition. Furthermore, it accuses the defendants of not providing adequate warnings to customers about potential hazards.

Berronez is seeking damages for physical pain and suffering in both past and future contexts; loss of earning capacity; medical bills incurred in the past and anticipated in the future; loss of household services; mental anguish experienced both previously and expected going forward; medical expenses; costs of suit; as well as pre-judgment and post-judgment interest at rates allowed by law. She also requests any other relief deemed justly entitled by the court.

The plaintiff's legal team includes Andrew Dao from Daly & Black P.C., Kayvon Alihossini from Daly & Black P.C., and Sina Zadeh from The Sina Zadeh Law Firm. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-50627 in Harris County District Court with Judge Christopher Matthews presiding.
