Steve Ellis, JD ’76, was selected as The Boy Scouts of America/Texas Trails Council 2024 Distinguished Citizen.  He will be honored at a dinner in Brownwood, Texas in November. 

Caren Lock, JD ’95, Regional Vice President & Associate General Counsel for TIAA, was honored as a Women of Distinction by Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas and Verizon. 

P. Wes Black, JD ’99, has been promoted to partner with the Dallas trial firm Lyons & Simmons. Wes is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and focuses his practice primarily on complex, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases.  A member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association, Black has been recognized among D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas each year since 2020. 

Mandi Mowery, JD ’06, was appointed by South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as a judge for the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court. 

Mitch Mitchell, JD ’10, Product Counsel with Trust & Will, has been selected as a member of the Legal Services Corporation’s (LSC) Emerging Leaders Council. The Council is dedicated to raising awareness about the critical need for legal aid in America and striving to ensure equal access to justice for all. Mitch is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. 

Robert Nass-Worthington, JD ’11, began his new role as chief financial officer of the Global Methodist Church. 

Luke Cochran, JD ’13, with Bovey & Cochran, PLLC in Round Rock, Texas, and a Brenham Municipal Court Prosecutor, was recognized by the Texas Municipal Courts Association as the 2024 Prosecutor of the Year.
