A serious slip-and-fall incident at a popular restaurant has led to a significant legal battle. Vanessa G. Adams filed a complaint against Chipotle Texas, LLC in the District Court of Harris County, Texas on August 27, 2024.

According to the complaint, Adams was seated inside Saltgrass restaurant located at 10404 I-10, Baytown, Texas on October 5, 2023. While walking into the restaurant, she slipped and fell onto her back due to a wet floor. The plaintiff alleges that the water had been on the floor for an extended period and that Chipotle Texas, LLC either knew or should have known about this dangerous condition. Adams required medical treatment for her injuries and has not fully recovered.

The lawsuit claims that Adams was an invitee on the property owned and managed by Chipotle Texas, LLC. She asserts that she did nothing to contribute to the incident and received no warnings about the hazardous condition. The complaint accuses Chipotle Texas, LLC of negligence for failing to maintain safe premises and allowing a dangerous condition to persist. Specific allegations include failing to inspect the premises adequately and not warning or making the condition safe for patrons.

Adams is seeking monetary relief ranging from $250,000 to $1,000,000 for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses incurred and expected in the future, physical impairment sustained both past and future, along with other damages permitted by law. Additionally, she seeks pre-judgment and post-judgment interest at the highest rate allowed by law.

Representing Vanessa G. Adams is attorney Donald G. DeSimone from DeSimone Law Office based in Houston, Texas. The case is being presided over by Judge Marilyn Burgess under Case ID: 2024-56899.
