A devastating explosion at a chemical plant has led to a lawsuit filed by an injured contractor against the company responsible for the site. On September 27, 2024, Jordan Adank filed a complaint in Harris County District Court against Next Wave Energy Partners, LP, seeking damages for severe injuries sustained during the incident.

The case revolves around an explosion that occurred on June 24, 2024, at the Next Wave Chemical Plant located in Pasadena, Texas. According to the plaintiff's petition, Adank was working as a contractor at the plant when he encountered what he believed were empty chemical containers. Tragically, an explosion ensued around 2:30 p.m., releasing sulfuric acid onto Adank's face and body. The lawsuit alleges that this catastrophic event resulted from negligence on the part of Next Wave Energy Partners in maintaining and operating their equipment safely.

Adank accuses Next Wave Energy Partners of failing to perform plant operations with due care and neglecting to implement necessary safety measures. The petition outlines several specific failures by the defendant, including inadequate training and supervision of employees and contractors, failure to follow industry safety standards, and insufficient maintenance of plant equipment. Furthermore, it is alleged that these oversights led directly to the hazardous conditions that caused Adank's injuries.

In addition to negligence claims, Adank also asserts premises liability against Next Wave Energy Partners. He argues that as an invitee on their property, he was owed a duty of care which was breached by allowing dangerous conditions to persist without adequate warning or remediation.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for past and future medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of earnings capacity, and other related damages. Additionally, Adank is pursuing exemplary damages due to what he describes as gross negligence on behalf of Next Wave Energy Partners.

Representing Jordan Adank are attorneys Ryan H. Zehl and Matthew O. Greenberg from Zehl & Associates PC. The case is presided over by Judge Taltha McCarty in Harris County District Court under Case ID 2024-66599.
