Carlos Cortes Begines has filed a lawsuit in Harris County, Texas, accusing two individuals of negligence after an incident involving their dog left him injured. The complaint was lodged on October 11, 2024, against Alex E. Sanango and Lucy Cervantes in the District Court of Harris County.

The case revolves around an unfortunate event that occurred on July 29, 2024. According to the plaintiff, Carlos Cortes Begines, he sustained serious injuries when the defendants' dog jumped on him while it was not restrained by a leash. The lawsuit claims that this incident was directly caused by the negligence of Alex E. Sanango and Lucy Cervantes. Begines asserts that the defendants failed to maintain their premises in a safe condition and neglected to warn visitors about potential dangers posed by their pet. Furthermore, he accuses them of not adhering to Harris County Animal Regulations which mandate that dogs must be kept under restraint.

Begines is seeking monetary compensation for his injuries, citing medical expenses incurred due to the accident as well as anticipated future costs. He also seeks damages for physical pain and suffering, loss of earnings and earning capacity, loss of consortium, disfigurement, mental anguish, and property damage. Additionally, he requests exemplary damages based on what he describes as the defendants' conscious indifference to his safety.

Represented by attorney Javier Marcos Jr., Carlos Cortes Begines demands a jury trial for this case (Case ID: 2024-70826), which is being heard in the 164th District Court of Harris County. The lawsuit aims for a judgment exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million against both defendants jointly and severally.
