A dramatic incident at a Houston restaurant has led to a lawsuit that could have significant implications for the involved parties. On October 14, 2024, Apryl Stewart and Jordan Shapiro filed a complaint in the District Court of Harris County against Rumi's Post Oak, LLC, Bay Meadow Architectural Millwork, Inc., and GP Installation, LLC. The plaintiffs allege severe bodily injuries resulting from negligence during their visit to Rumi's Kitchen.
According to the court documents, on September 3, 2024, Stewart and Shapiro were dining at Rumi’s Kitchen when a large decorative glass panel fell on them. This panel was installed by GP Installation, LLC under contract with Bay Meadow Architectural Millwork, Inc. The plaintiffs claim that the defendants failed to maintain safe premises and neglected necessary inspections and warnings about potential hazards. They assert that these failures constitute negligence and gross negligence on the part of all defendants involved.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages exceeding $1 million for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of earning capacity, impairment, exemplary damages, interest on damages both pre- and post-judgment, court costs, and any other relief deemed just by the court. They argue that the defendants’ actions showed reckless disregard for safety standards which led directly to their injuries.
