Brandi Moyler has filed a lawsuit against Uber Technologies, Inc., along with two individuals identified as John Doe and Jason Doe, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. The complaint was officially lodged on October 31, 2024. Moyler's case centers around an incident that occurred on April 18, 2024, when she sustained personal injuries while riding as a passenger in an Uber vehicle.
According to the details outlined in the lawsuit, Brandi Moyler was involved in a car accident at the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Wilcrest Drive in Houston, Texas. The incident happened when the Uber driver, referred to as John Doe, attempted to turn into a professional complex to drop off another passenger. During this maneuver, their vehicle was rear-ended by another car driven by Jason Doe. As a result of this collision, Moyler claims she suffered extensive and permanent injuries due to what she describes as negligence on part of both drivers and Uber Technologies.
Moyler's accusations against Uber include negligent hiring practices and inadequate training and supervision of its drivers. She further alleges that Uber's business model inherently causes distractions for drivers by requiring them to use cellphones and navigate unfamiliar routes without adequate guidance. The plaintiff argues that these factors contributed significantly to the accident and her subsequent injuries.
In her legal filing, Moyler seeks monetary relief not exceeding $250,000 for damages including past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment and disfigurement, lost wages, and diminished earning capacity. Additionally, she requests pre-judgment and post-judgment interest along with court costs.
Representing Brandi Moyler is attorney Colin Cameron from Daspit Law Firm based in Houston. The case has been assigned to Judge Nelson Cuero under Case ID 2024-76218.
