The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Scott Bailey has joined the Firm as of counsel in the Corporate Practice. He is based in the Dallas Office.
Mr. Bailey has experience working with private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies—as well as public and private companies—in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. His client experience is primarily focused in the energy and infrastructure space. He has also worked on corporate restructurings, capital market transactions, oil and gas transactions, and real estate and property matters.
"Scott has worked on several acquisitions and divestitures in the energy space that were in excess of $1 billion, as well as equity investments and other corporate transactions on behalf of some of the largest institutional investors in the industry," said Matthew Kairis, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Dallas Office. "He is well-respected in the Texas legal community and I am excited to have him join and bolster our team."
At Jones Day, Mr. Bailey joins the Firm's global Corporate Practice, which encompasses M&A and Private Equity. In the last five years, Jones Day has advised clients on more than 3,000 M&A transactions collectively valued at $1.5 trillion, and many of the world's leading private equity funds are counseled by Jones Day in the full range of corporate transactions.
Mr. Bailey's arrival comes after a trio of partners—Rodney Moore, Samuel Peca, and Scott Delaney—recently joined Jones Day's Corporate Practice in the Firm's Dallas Office and are part of the Firm's Energy Transition & Infrastructure initiative. In addition to these arrivals, Steven (Steve) Taylor will join Jones Day as an associate in Dallas. His practice focuses on energy transactions with a particular emphasis on acquisitions and divestures in the upstream sector.
Mr. Bailey earned his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University. Mr. Bailey has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America's "Ones to Watch" lists for Mergers & Acquisitions Law and Leveraged Buyouts & Private Equity Law.
"Jones Day advises on some of the most significant M&A and private equity transactions that take place around the world every year," said Mr. Bailey. "I am honored to join this global team and look forward to working with my new colleagues throughout the Firm."
