Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP is proud to welcome Tammy Terry and Lisa Margonis to its Intellectual Property practice in Houston. Both are distinguished U.S. Patent attorneys who bring extensive experience in patent law, litigation, and IP matters. They join the firm from Osha Bergman Watanabe & Burton LLP where Terry served as the head of the firm's Litigation Group.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lisa and Tammy to our growing Houston office, and we look forward to having them on our team” said Craig Dillard, Houston office managing partner. “They bring impressive credentials and experience in the intellectual property sector in a key geographic market where our clients see a tremendous amount of Intellectual Property activity. Their arrival further establishes our growing presence in the Houston area and adds to our firm's already strong national IP practice group.”

Margonis has more than 20 years of experience helping clients manage intellectual property portfolios and properly enforce their IP rights. With a technical background in the field of mechanical engineering, she primarily focuses her practice on intellectual property, including IP litigation and patent prosecution, with particular emphasis on oilfield technologies, automotive technologies, and consumer products.

Terry is a seasoned IP litigator and registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Her experience includes more than 21 years of IP litigation, complex commercial litigation, and dispute resolution representing global and domestic companies on the cutting edge of technology in a variety of industries and disciplines throughout the United States. Additionally, she also manages trademark prosecution with a focus on developing, customizing, and optimizing domestic and global branding strategies for clients in all industries, including established and emerging technologies, the fashion industry, and the arts.

Nelson Mullins opened its Houston office in April 2024 with nine attorneys. It’s since grown to 33 attorneys.
