Raquel Reyes has filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Texas, LLC, alleging severe injuries from a slip and fall incident at one of their stores. The complaint was filed in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on January 31, 2025. Reyes is seeking monetary relief exceeding $1 million from the retail giant.
According to the petition, Raquel Reyes visited a Walmart store located at 2391 Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas, on December 12, 2023. During her visit, she slipped and fell on a substance identified as slime on the floor of the premises. This incident resulted in severe injuries for which she required medical treatment. Reyes claims that her injuries were due to negligence on the part of Walmart for failing to maintain safe conditions in their store.
The lawsuit outlines several accusations against Walmart under premises liability law. It asserts that Reyes was an invitee at the time of the accident and that Walmart had control over the premises where the incident occurred. The complaint alleges that there was an unreasonable risk of harm present and that Walmart failed in its duty to ensure safety by not warning about or rectifying dangerous conditions. Specifically, it accuses Walmart of failing to warn customers about concealed dangers and not providing adequate safeguards or training employees to maintain a safe environment.
Reyes also claims negligent undertaking by Walmart, stating that they undertook services necessary for her protection but failed to perform them with reasonable care. This includes allegations that Walmart did not properly inspect or maintain their premises regularly.
The plaintiff seeks compensation for various damages including past and future medical expenses, physical pain and mental anguish, physical impairment, loss of enjoyment of life, and other related damages. Reyes requests judgment for actual damages deemed reasonable by a jury along with pre-judgment interest, post-judgment interest, costs of court proceedings, and any further relief deemed justly entitled.
