For the third consecutive weekend, South Texas College of Law Houston advocates claimed a national championship. Neal Green, Christian Luening, and Adie Schenkler won the law school’s 145th national title at the Judge John R. Brown National Admiralty Moot Court Competition in New Orleans. Neal Green, who was part of last week’s national championship team, was recognized as Best Advocate in the Final Round.
South Texas College of Law Houston also won the award for the Most Outstanding Law School in the competition.
And as a bonus, a second team from South Texas Law — Shelton Brown, Britlyn Sanders, and Alex Nakakura — finished as semifinalists. Shelton Brown won an Outstanding Speaker Award, and Britlyn Sanders won an Outstanding Brief Award.
While winning three championships in three weekends represents an extraordinary feat, these recent triumphs are the product of unwavering dedication and exceptional teamwork. South Texas Law’s advocates displayed relentless determination, alumni coaches contributed invaluable expertise, and faculty members alongside practicing attorneys provided crucial feedback during rigorous practice sessions that transformed promising arguments into championship-winning presentations.
The alumni coaches and the internal advocacy team at South Texas Law — Hayley Stenhouse, Rebecca Hogg, Connor Evans, Sandra Guillen, and Stephanie Sullivan — provided tireless dedication to and exceptional support for the students’ remarkable achievements.
South Texas College of Law celebrates these exceptional students and all those who supported them. Their achievements showcase our institution’s commitment to excellence and the collaborative spirit that defines our community’s purpose.
