Contractor claims he was injured by faulty folding chair

A Jefferson County man filed suit against a company after allegedly being injured on the job.

John Bullard filed a complaint Sept. 23 in Jefferson County Circuit Court against Meco Corporation and Flint Hills Resources Port Arthur, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 29, 2012, Bullard was working as a contractor for the defendants when he sat on a metal folding chair that collapsed causing serious and debilitating injuries. Bullard says he was informed the same type of chairs had broken on different occasions prior to his injuries.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants had prior knowledge of the defective chairs and chose not to replace them. He cites liability and negligence.

Bullard seeks damages that the court sees fit, plus costs and fees. He is represented by attorneys Tommy L. Yeates of Moore, Landrey, and B. Adam Terrell of Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell, both in Beaumont.
