Family sued for student loan default

A Jefferson County family is being sued over claims a student loan has gone into default.

National Collegiate Student Loan Trust 2007-3, a Delaware statutory trust, filed a lawsuit Sept. 29 in Jefferson County District Court against Dynnara and Dan Illa, citing breach of contract.

According to the complaint, Dynnara Illa entered into a student loan for her education at Lamar State College through a promissory note with Bank of America, upon which Dan Illa was guarantor. The complaint states there was a deferral period for the repayment of the loan but that period has passed, and the loan is in default, owing more than $19,600 as of July. Dynnara Illa is sued for breach of contract and Dan Illa is sued as guarantor.

The plaintiff seeks the $19,600 owed, interest and costs of court.

It is represented by attorney Michael J. Scott of Scott, Parnell and Associates in Carrollton.
