Woman injured three in wreck, suit claims

A Jefferson County woman is suing over claims she and two minors were injured in an auto collision.

Isabel Torres, individually and as next friend of two minors, filed a lawsuit Oct. 7 in Jefferson County District Court against Jessica Lynn Garza, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Torres was driving south on U.S. Highway 69 on Oct. 8, 2012, when she turned east on 39th Street, but Garza, traveling north on Highway 69, ran a red light and struck the plaintiff's vehicle. Torres says she and the minor plaintiffs sustained injuries in the collision. Garza is accused of negligence in failing to stop at a red light, yield right of way and keep a proper lookout.

Torres seeks actual damages, interest, attorney fees, costs of suit and medical expenses. She is represented by attorney Allen Parker of The Parker Law Firm in Port Arthur.
