Douglas Green has taken legal action against a prominent travel stop and convenience store chain, alleging negligence that led to his serious injuries. On May 8, 2025, Douglas Green filed a complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, against Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, Inc., citing premises liability due to unsafe conditions at one of their locations.

The lawsuit arises from an incident on May 9, 2023, when Green visited the Love’s Travel Stop located at 210 Patton Street in Houston. According to the complaint, while approaching the entrance of the store, Green tripped over a large crack between the door and stoop. This crack created an uneven walking surface that posed a significant tripping hazard. The plaintiff asserts that Love’s Travel Stops failed to maintain safe premises for its patrons by not addressing this dangerous condition or providing adequate warnings about it. As a result of this alleged negligence, Green sustained serious injuries.

Green's legal team argues that Love’s Travel Stops had both actual and constructive knowledge of the hazardous condition. They claim that the store's employees were responsible for creating or failing to rectify the danger and should have been aware of it through routine inspections. The lawsuit accuses Love’s Travel Stops of several failures: maintaining safe walkways, properly training staff on safety protocols, warning customers about known dangers, and conducting timely inspections to identify potential risks.

The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief exceeding $1 million for medical expenses incurred due to his injuries and those anticipated in the future. Additionally, he seeks compensation for physical pain and suffering experienced both in the past and expected in the future, as well as mental anguish resulting from the incident.

Representing Douglas Green is attorney Dustin Brown from Stanley and Associates PLLC based in Plano, Texas. The case is filed under Case ID 2025-32493 with Judge Marilyn Burgess presiding over proceedings in Harris County's 281st Judicial District Court.
