Man claims injury from riding on airborne boat

A Texas man is suing over claims he was injured when the boat in which he was a passenger became airborne.

Anson Brantley filed a lawsuit Oct. 29 in Galveston County District Court against John Beatty, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Brantley was one of several passengers on a boat driven by Beatty on June 15, when Beatty traveled over a large wake created by two passing boats at an excessive rate of speed, causing the boat to become airborne and Brantley to be propelled into the air and back down, sustaining injuries. Beatty is accused of negligence in failing to maintain a safe speed and operate his boat safely.

Brantley seeks more than $1 million in damages, including interest, attorney fees and costs of court. He is represented by attorney Kelly Forester of League City.
