A consumer is suing BIC alleging product liability after a 2013 shaving incident.
Darolyn Mangum filed a lawsuit on April 9 against BIC Corp. of Shelton, Conn., in Galveston County District Court, claiming specific injuries caused by one of the company's products.
The plaintiff was shaving her legs with a BIC razor on April 12, 2013. According to the filing, the blade malfunctioned and caused a laceration to her right leg. Mangum alleges that the razor, which was designed, manufactured, marketed, assembled, distributed and sold by the defendant, was defective and/or unreasonably dangerous.
She argues that the defendant breached express and implied warranties by representing that the BIC razor was fit for its intended purpose; of merchantable quality; and safe for the purposes intended when used under ordinary conditions and in an ordinary manner.
Citing past and future medical expenses and bills, mental anguish, physical pain and suffering, disability, loss of enjoyment of life and physical impairment, Mangum seeks: compensation for medical expenses; pre- and post-judgment interest; attorney’s fees; expenses and costs.
