A Houston resident brought a lawsuit against his employer for alleged liability in a 2014 matter.
Irving Beo filed a complaint on April 16 against Cenac Marine Services LLC and CTCO Benefits Services LLC, headquartered in Houma, La., in Jefferson County District Court, claiming damages in an August 2014 workplace incident.
According to court documents, the defendant owned and operated the marine vessel Fritz Cenac; the plaintiff was employed by the defendant as a deckhand and crew member. Beo slipped and fell between the vessel and a barge on or about Aug. 14, 2014, allegedly injuring his body, back and right knee.
The lawsuit cites the defendant with failure to provide a proper means of ingress and egress to and from the vessel; failure to maintain the vessel and her equipment safely in a reasonable state of repair; failure to provide a safe workplace with adequate conditions and lighting; and neglecting to warn the plaintiff of known or existing hazards.
In addition to his injuries, Beo alleges that Cenac owes him maintenance and cure, having aggravated his condition by allegedly denying or delaying compensation for the accident.
Citing physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost earnings and earning capacity, impairment and disfigurement, the plaintiff seeks: compensation for medical expenses; actual, exemplary and punitive damages; pre- and post-judgment interest; attorneys' fees; expenses; and costs. He is represented by Marcus Spagnoletti of Spagnoletti and Co. in Houston.
