Glen Morgan is alleging the construction company he hired to construct portions of his Beaumont residence breached its contract by performing poor workmanship on his home's roof.
Morgan filed his lawsuit against Burts, Inc. with the Jefferson County District Court on May 11. He is suing for actual, economic, consequential, treble and exemplary damages, plus the cost of the suit. The plaintiff is proposing discovery be conducted under Level 3.
According to Morgan's original petition, after construction on his home was completed, a dormer leak was discovered in the game room. The defendant was directly involved in the roof's construction.
"Despite inspections and modifications by defendant, the dormer(s) still leaks," the suit said. "Furthermore, since plaintiff informed defendant of the problem, the dormer(s) have continued to leak and water has run down the ceiling, walls and into the insulation causing further damage to plaintiff's home."
Morgan claims Burts' spotty workmanship constitutes a breach of contract.
He is represented by Chris Portner of the Reaud, Morgan & Quinn law firm.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th Judicial District, has been assigned to the case.
