Plastic sheet injures shopper at Penney's

Beware of plastic sheets when roaming through department stores.

Mariane Boudreaux paid a visit to the Port Arthur J.C. Penney and
injured herself when she "fell through a large sheet of plastic,"
stated her petition filed with the Jefferson County District Court on
May 21.

Boudreaux is claiming J.C. Penney knew , or at least should have known, about the dangerous condition and is negligent for failing to remedy
it.

"Defendant's negligence legally caused serious injuries to plaintiff,"
the suit said.

However, the suit does not state the extent of the woman's injuries, or how she managed to fall through a large piece of plastic.

Boudreux is suing for physical pain and suffering in the past and
future, mental anguish in the past and future, lost wages, loss of
earning capacity, disfigurement in the past and future, physical
impairment in the past and future, and past and future medical expenses.

She is represented by Provost Umphrey attorney John Lane.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th Judicial District, will preside over the case.

Case No. B179-353
