Poe to host forum on FAA airport proposal

U.S. Rep. Ted Poe

U.S. Rep. Ted Poe (R-Humble) will host a public meeting to discuss the proposed Federal Aviation Terminal Radar Approach Control consolidation.

The meeting will be 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Port Arthur YMCA, 6790 Ninth Ave., Port Arthur.

Poe is holding the meeting because federal officials want to transfer some air traffic control duties from the Southeast Texas Regional Airport to Houston.

A TRACON typically controls aircraft approaching and departing between 5 and 50 miles of an airport.

Officials from the FAA will be present to hear public input.
