  • Shelley Dee Bourliea vs. A.O. Smith Corp.

    When he was alive, Terry Bourliea sued and received a settlement for an asbestos-related disease. Now deceased, Holmes' benefactor is suing on his behalf for a different asbestos-related disease.
    Blevins filed the suit on behalf of plaintiff Shelley Dee Bourliea on Nov. 2 in Orange County District Court.

    In the suit, Bourliea alleges that the A.O. Smith Corp. and 40 other companies knowingly and maliciously manufactured and distributed asbestos-containing products throughout Jefferson County.

  • Michele Whatley vs. Accent Carpet and Drapery Co. et al

    Michele Whatley thought it peculiar her wood floors were laced with sawdust. When she began cleaning the mess, she stumbled upon wood beetles boring into her floor. Whatley contacted the makers of the floor for help but was told "that beetles could not be living in the wood."

    After an exterminator determined her home to be infested with Southern Lyctus Beetles, Whatley filed suit against Accent Carpet and Drapery Co. and Pinnacle Interior Elements.

    The suit alleges the defendants are negligent for failing to properly test, examine, store and treat the wood before placing a defective product into the stream of commerce. Whatley is suing for exemplary, punitive property and mental anguish damages.

  • Victoria Jaramillo vs. John Graham

    PA � Clay Dugas, J � Dennis Powell

    The Jaramillo family is suing John Graham for causing an automobile collision back in April. The suit says Graham is negligent for failing to maintain control of his vehicle, keep a proper lookout and yield the right of way.

    The family is suing for past and future medical expenses, physical pain and impairment.
