Suspended educator sues WOC district

A suspended elementary assistant principle will ask Judge Patrick Clark, 128th District Court, on Dec. 31 to mandatorily reinstate her to her position.

Jamie Wilson filed a petition for declaratory judgment and restraining order after the West Orange Cove Consolidated Independent School District suspended her from her position as assistant principle at Anderson Elementary.

Wilson learned she would be suspended on Nov. 26. Her petition was filed with the Orange County District Court on Dec. 14, and her hearing has been slated for Dec. 31.

According to Wilson's petition, the school district has a long history of racism and reverse racism. Wilson claims racism and race-related lawsuits are nothing new to the district.

In her suit, Wilson alleges the school district and its superintendent, O.T. Collins, brought "trumped up charges" against her for disciplining a special needs student.

However, Wilson contends her suspension is a violation of her constitutional rights and could possibly be related to her ties to a race-related lawsuit against the district.

Wilson's friend and former colleague Dale Dardeau had filed a civil rights violation lawsuit against the school district back in June 2007.

A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 31 before Judge Clark.
