Woman sues for fall in hospital bathroom

An eye appointment is usually a hazard-free experience, unless perhaps you visit the ladies room and slip on "wet and dirty" tile.

Dana Harmon filed suit against Memorial Hermann Hospital System in the Jefferson County Court at Law No. 1 on Dec. 28, 2007.

According to the plaintiff's petition, Harmon says she recently took her father to the hospital to see an eye doctor. During the visit, she went down the hall to the ladies room.

"The ladies room was in disarray, and the carpet was wrinkled, buckled up and torn," the suit said, adding that Harmon also had no choice but to walk across a "wet and dirty" tile floor.

"(Harmon) slipped on the wet tile floor causing her to fall, suffering injuries to her legs and her body generally," the suit said.

The suit continues by alleging the hospital was negligent for failing to inspect and clean its bathrooms.

Harmon is suing for pain, mental anguish, lost wages and medical expenses.

She is represented by the Law Offices of Woodson E. Dryden.

Judge Alfred Gerson will preside over the case.
