Applied Standards Inspection Inc. has filed suit against R&R Marine Inc. in hopes of collecting nearly $59,000 on a past due account.
The suit was filed Oct. 10 in Jefferson County District Court.
ASI alleges R&R owes it $58,935.50 for services rendered. The suit does not give details as to the nature of the services.
According to the company's Web site, Applied Standards Inspection Inc., located in Beaumont, is a full service inspection company providing Non Destructive Testing inspections around the world. ASI is approved to perform on-shore and off-shore rig surveys and base line corrosion inspection surveys for oil refineries and chemical plants as well as off-shore production operations.
"Defendant has breached a contract with plaintiff, and such breach has proximately caused actual (and consequential) damages to plaintiff within the jurisdictional limits of this court, for which plaintiff now sues," the suit says.
"The breach of contract by defendant has made it necessary for plaintiff to retain the services of undersigned attorneys' of record. As such, plaintiff also sues for the recovery of all reasonable and necessary attorneys' fees … in the amount of $5,000 and accrued interest in the amount of $5,893.55 for a total recovery of $69,829.05."
ASI is represented by John Morgan, a partner in the Lindsay & Morgan law firm.
The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd of the 172nd Judicial District.
