Woman sues Walgreens after fall

A Beaumont woman has filed suit against Walgreen Co., alleging she was seriously injured after she fell at the store.

LaChandra Cobb was shopping at the Walgreens located at 3885 Dowlen Road in Beaumont on June 29 when she slipped and fell on a foreign object or substance, according to the complaint filed Dec. 16 in Jefferson County District Court.

Because of her fall, Cobb incurred medical expenses and suffered physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement and a loss of earnings, the suit states.

Walgreens breached its duty to inspect the premises and maintain them in a safe manner by allowing the foreign substance on the floor, the suit states.

Cobb is seeking damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional requirements of Jefferson County District Court, pre-judgment interest, costs and attorney's fees.

Dan Ducote Jr. of Moore Landrey in Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
