As of press time for the Southeast Texas Record's Jan. 26 edition, no verdict has been reached in the medical malpractice trial carrying on in Judge Donald Floyd's 172nd District Court.
The Record has been covering the trial for the past two months.
On Jan. 15, plaintiff Stacy Thompson and her lawyer, Valorie Davenport, rested their case. However, deliberations began and then were put on hold because one of the jurors was granted permission to attend President Obama's inauguration.
The trial, Thompson vs. Dr. James Woodruff et al, centers on Thompson, who sued several of her treating doctors in 2002, claiming they had negligently failed to diagnose her alleged breast cancer in a timely manner.
