A total of seven suits against insurance companies regarding hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court during the week of March 30 - April 3, 2009.
The following suits regarding Hurricane Ike were filed:
Abundant Life Sanctuary of 2301 West Parkway in Groves alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for building and contents damages when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Raja and Sousan Ataya of 1375 Shakespeare Drive in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their home by Hurricane Ike on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Legacy Claim Services and adjuster Brandon Brock to investigate. The Atayas are represented by Michael R. Walter and Yevette Gabriel of 4825 Fifth St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages to their home by Hurricane Ike on Sept. 13.
