New suits against insurance companies over hurricane claims filed in Jefferson County

A total of seven suits against insurance companies regarding hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court during the week of March 30 - April 3, 2009.

The following suits regarding Hurricane Ike were filed:

  • Abundant Life Sanctuary of 2301 West Parkway in Groves alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for building and contents damages when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Abundant Life Sanctuary is represented by Jason M. Byrd and Wyatt D. Snider of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D183-719.

  • Raja and Sousan Ataya of 1375 Shakespeare Drive in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their home by Hurricane Ike on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Legacy Claim Services and adjuster Brandon Brock to investigate. The Atayas are represented by Michael R.   • Walter and Yevette Gabriel of 4825 Fifth St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages to their home by Hurricane Ike on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after it Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned All-Tech Claims and adjusters Parker Dykes and Jacob Crowley to investigate. The Gabriels are represented by Michael R.   • Wilfred Jones of 611 Gizelle St. in Port Arthur alleges Farmers Insurance Exchange denied her claim for rood, water, structural and wind damages caused to her home when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.   • Clarence and Lillian Lavalais of 2916 11th St. in Port Arthur allege Farmers Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, water, wind, foundation, contents and structural damages to their home caused when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. The Lavalaises are represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory f. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Ector Ochoa of 3348 Roanoke Ave. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for dwelling and contents damages caused to his home when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Ochoa is represented by Jason M. Byrd and Wyatt D. Snider of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A183-686.

  • Rocky Russell of 1102 Block St. in Port Neches alleges Geovera Specialty Insurance Company denied his claim for dwelling and contents damages caused to his home when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Geovera denied the claim after assigning adjuster Jade Mitchell Saucier to investigate. Russell is represented by Wyatt D. Snider, Jason M. Byrd and Timothy Sawyer of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont.
