Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of nine lawsuits relating to payment of hurricane-related damage claims were filed against insurance companies in Jefferson County District Court the week of April 27-May 1, 2009.

The following suits regarding Hurricane Ike were filed:

--Byron and Crystal Morgan of 5520 Pine Burr Blvd. in Beaumont allege Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Company denied their claims for damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Capitol denied the claim after it hired adjuster Kurt Diamond to investigate. The Morgans are represented by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont and by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: B183-893.

  • Michelle and Rochelle Lewis of 2345 Fourth Ave. in Port Arthur allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. They are represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Rochelle and Michelle Lewis of 2315 East Thomas Blvd. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Legacy Claims Service and adjusters Chadwick Eddy and John Carpenter to investigate, the complaint says.   • Odis B. Briggs and Betty Jones of 7748 Golfhill Dr. in Port Arthur allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.   • Velma Levine of 4240 Cadillac Lane in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for roof, water and wind damage to her property caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned IMS Catastrophe Services and Ty Bacon to investigate. Levine is represented by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F.   • Peggy Bowie of 4049 Rachel Ave. in Port Arthur alleges Fire Insurance Exchange denied at least a portion of her claim for dwelling and contents damages to her property caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Bowie is represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B183-915.

  • Floyd Joyce of 770 Zavalla St. in Beaumont alleges Fire Insurance Exchange denied his claim for roof, wind, foundation, contents and structural damages caused to his home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Joyce is represented by J. Steve Mostyn and George Edwards III of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Joshua and Amanda Chadney of Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.     The following suit regarding Hurricane Humberto was filed:

  • Eric Delahoussaye of 1902 Duff Dr. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association failed to adequately investigate, evaluate and timely pay for damages to his home caused after Hurricane Humberto. Delahoussaye is represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A183-914.
