A Jefferson County man is suing a Houston business and a Brazoria County man over their alleged failure to pay him as much as promised for work he performed.
Juan Reid filed a lawsuit May 11 in Jefferson County District Court against Hallmark Group and Jason Freeman.
Reid says he entered into an agreement with Hallmark Group and Freeman to perform services on various construction projects. In return, he was supposed to receive 50 percent of profits, according to the complaint.
However, Hallmark Group and Freeman recently told Reid they do not intend to honor the agreement and intend to pay Reid less than the agreed-upon amount, the suit states.
Reid is asking the court to issue a declaratory judgment that holds that Reid is entitled to 50 percent of the profits. He is also seeking unspecified actual damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and other relief to which he may be entitled.
Glen W. Morgan and Chris Portner of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont will be representing him.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
