Woman sued over $45K credit card debt

LTD Acquistions is suing a Port Arthur woman who it says owes it more than $45,000 in credit card payments.

LTD Acquisitions filed a lawsuit July 27 in Jefferson County District Court against Dorothy J. Hanley.

LTD Acquisitions claims Hanley breached a credit card agreement she entered into with the Chase Bank after she stopped making payments on the card.

Although LTD has demanded payments from Hanley, she has refused to pay it, according to the complaint.

"As of June 25, 2009, there continues to be owed by Defendant to the Plaintiff an unpaid principal balance of $41,246.70 and accrued interest of $8,224.48," the suit states. "Interest continues to accrue to the Account at the rate of 6 percent per annum."

In addition to the money it says it is due, LTD Acquisitions is seeking pre- and post-judgment interest at 6 percent per annum or at the maximum rate allowed by law, attorney's fees, costs and other relief to which it may be entitled.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: B184-561.
