Woman slips on candy box, sues pharmacy

A woman who slipped on a candy box left on the floor of a store says her bladder was injured because of the fall.

Geraldine Solberg filed a lawsuit Aug. 10 in Jefferson County District Court against CVS Pharmacy.

Solberg claims she was shopping at the CVS located at 2312 Highway 365 in Nederland.

"Upon completing her transaction at the cash register, Plaintiff turned to leave and she stepped into a box of candy that had been left on the floor by a store employee," the suit states. "The box slid across the floor and Plaintiff fell."

Solberg says she suffered injuries to her mid, upper and lower back, as well as to her bladder because of the fall. In addition, she incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering, physical impairment and mental anguish, according to the complaint.

Solberg is seeking a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

Trent Devenzio of McCall and Devenzio in Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
