A total of four new lawsuits against insurance companies over hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court during the week of Aug. 3 through Aug. 7.
The following complaints were filed:
Stephanie Alfred of 4950 Ada St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for roof, water, wind, structural and contents damages caused to her home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned IMS Catastrophe Services and adjuster Glen Scaggs to investigate. Alfred is represented by Gregory F. Latonya Cheatam of 1031 Schwarner St. in Beaumont alleges Homewise Preferred Insurance Company denied her claim for roof and water damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Paul A. Smith Jr. and Carlos E. Solis of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and Danny R. Scott Jr. of the Law Office of Danny R. Scott Jr. in Beaumont will be representing Cheatam. Ernest and Beverly Jones of 4150 Redwood Drive in Beaumont allege National Lloyds Insurance Company denied their claim for wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. National Lloyds denied the claim after it hired Compass Adjusting Services and adjuster Heather Howlett to investigate, according to the complaint. The plaintiffs are represented by John Pat Parsons and Cindy L. McLendon of the Lindsay Law Firm in Beaumont. Madison County Circuit Court case number: E184-602.
Tony and Robert Mitchell of 1250 Doucette St. in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof and water damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Paul A. Smith Jr. and Carlos E. Solis of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and Danny R. Scott Jr. of the Law Office of Danny R. Scott Jr. in Beaumont will be representing the Mitchells.
