Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of nine new lawsuits against insurance companies regarding hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Sept. 28 - Oct. 2, 2009.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Carl Gallow-Guillory of 2301 Owens in Groves alleges Republic Lloyds denied his claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Republic Lloyds denied the claim after it assigned adjusters Fred Ludwig, Frank Lubbock and Randy Robertson to investigate. Gallow-Guillory will be represented by Gregory F.   • Bruce Healey of 15630 Highway 87 in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Reid, Jones McRorie and Williams Incorporated and adjusters Dawn Scott, Demian Kolb, Martin Greco, David Reed, Richard Suther and Parker Dykes to investigate. Healey will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont and by David P. Wilson and Matthew C. Matheny of Provost and Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Gloria and Kenneth Johnson of 4690 Ironton in Beaumont allege American Western Home Insurance Company refused to fully compensate them for their claim for roof, water, wind, contents, structural and foundation damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. American Western denied the claim after assigning Gentry and Associates Claims Services and adjuster Bruce Turnbull to investigate. The Johnsons will be represented by Gregory F.   • Waleed Khan, on behalf of Makas Management Inc. and owns rental properties at various locations in Nederland, alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association underpaid him for his claim for damages caused to the properties after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Khan will be represented by Clint Brasher and Joe Muckleroy of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E185-004.

  • Clifford and Offie Landry of 4240 Willow Bend Lane in Port Arthur allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. The Landrys will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Timothy and Kathleen McCabe, who own a 2000 Holiday Rambler travel trailer, allege USAA County Mutual Insurance Company partially denied their claim to damages caused to their trailer after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The McCabes will be represented by Jessica L. Hallmark and Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D185-032.

  • Gloria Merendino of 13435 Chimney Rock in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for roof, wind, water, structural and contents damages after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned IMS Catastrophe Services to investigate. Merendino will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A185-021.

  • Punarbassi Sandy of 1815 Procter St. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for roof, water, wind, structural, foundation and contents damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Allied American Adjusting Company, A.L.E. Properties and adjuster Ralph Smith to investigate. Sandy will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B185-035.

  • Emma Turk of 1008 Robinson Drive, County Road 739 in Buna alleges Ranchers and Farmers Mutual Insurance Company denied her claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to her property after Hurricane Rita struck on Sept. 24, 2005. Jefferson County District Court case number: D185-017.
