Inmate files slip-and-fall suit against jail

A prisoner in the Jefferson County jail has filed a lawsuit claiming he was injured when he fell at the correctional facility.

Allan Granger filed suit against the state of Texas and Jefferson County on Dec. 7 in Jefferson County District Court.

In his suit, Granger says he has suffered physical hardship and mental trauma "due to negligence to safety in jail by slip and fall accident."

Granger also claims he has been falsely arrested.

He is suing for $500,000 in damages.

Although his suit is unclear on when or how he was injured, the suit does say he slipped and fell because of an "excessive amount of water on the floor, causin (sic) plaintiff to fall and sustain trauma to head and lower back."

Granger is representing himself.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th Judicial District.
