A construction company claims two corporations failed to pay it more than $60,000 for work it performed.

Centerpoint Builders filed a lawsuit Jan. 25 in Jefferson County District Court against Glenmont Madison Beaumont and Broadlands Financial Group.

Centerpoint claims it contracted with Glenmont to construct an apartment complex known as Beaumont Trace Apartments.

Under a March 8, 2008, service agreement, Broadlands had a contractual obligation to obtain payment from Glenmont after Centerpoint completed the work, according to the complaint.

Centerpoint completed the agreed upon improvements, but did not receive payment for its work, the complaint says.

Although Broadlands did obtain payment from Glenmont's lender, it did not forward the payment to Centerpoint, the suit states.

"Centerpoint would show that the reasonable value of labor and materials provided to Glenmont for which Centerpoint has not been paid is an amount of at least $68,660.84," the complaint says.

Because it did not receive payment for its work, Centerpoint claims it filed a mechanic's and materialman's lien.

Now, it seeks actual damages and a judgment that it has a valid lien on the property.

In addition, it seeks a foreclosure on the property and proceeds from the sale to be applied to its judgment, incidental and consequential damages, pre- and post-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, attorneys' fees, costs and general and special relief.
