Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of 12 new lawsuits against insurance commpanies over hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Jan. 25-29, 1010.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Kelvin Arrington of 4710 Tiger Trace Lane in Houston alleges Standard Guaranty Insurance Company denied his claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Standard Guaranty denied the claim after it assigned adjuster Thomas Klemaier to investigate. Arrington will be represented by Philip M. Kanayan of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston.   • Morris Carrier of 210 Iowa St. in Beaumont alleges Fire Insurance Exchange denied his claim for water, wind, foundation and structural damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston will be representing him. Jefferson County District Court case number: B185-831.

  • Diane Dennis of 5027 Sunken Court in Groves alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Dennis will be represented by Lance P. Bradley, Kelly J. Stewart and Gordon D. Friesz of McPherson, Hughes, Bradley, Wimberley, Steele and Chatelain in Port Arthur.   • James Garrett of 5350 Tyrrell Park in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied a portion of his claims for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont will be representing him. Jefferson County District Court case number: A185-833.

  • Habibnia of 7990, 7992, 7994 and 7996 Gladys Ave. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied a portion of its claim for damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Habibnia will be represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D185-809.

  • Elroy Lemelle Jr. and Sharon Lemelle of 7701 Blewett Road in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind, contents, foundation and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing them. Jefferson County District Court case number: A185-837.

  • Walter Mayes of 2930 Emile St. in Beaumont alleges Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Company denied his claim for roof, water, wind, contents, foundation and structural damages caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Mayes will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of the Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A185-836.

  • Enrique Ramirez and Rosario Gonzalez of 3352 24th St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind, contents, foundation and structural damages caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Ramirez and Gonzalez will be represented by Elizabeth L. Sandoval of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: E185-812.

  • Reta Randle of 240 Rosine St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for roof and other damages caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Randle will be represented by Paul A. Smith Jr. and Carlos E. Solis of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of the Law Office of Danny R. Scott Jr. in Beaumont.   • Patricia Roy of 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied her claim because Charlotte Renee Davis did not mail in Roy's insurance application until Sept. 8, 2008, when TWIA had stopped writing insurance, according to the complaint. If the application had been mailed prior to Sept. 8, 2008, TWIA would have accepted Roy's claims, the suit states. Roy will be represented by George E. Bean of Cashiola and Bean in Beaumont.   • Theodore Tattersall of 315 Gale St. in Houston alleges Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied his claim for roof, water, wind, foundation, contents and structural damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Tattersall will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: B185-807.

  • Preston Thibodeaux of 9095 Riggs St. in Beaumont alleges National Lloyds Insurance Company denied his claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. National Lloyds denied the claim after it assigned Compass Adjusting Services and adjusters Josh Crisp, Josh Baros, Sean Patton, Janice Parnell and Michael Vieregg to investigate, according to the complaint. Thibodeaux will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont and by James R. Dunnam of Dunnam and Dunnam in Waco. Jefferson County District Court case number: D185-838.
