A Jefferson County woman claims she sustained physical pain and mental anguish after a driver struck her.

Rhonda Heartfield filed a lawsuit Feb. 22 in Jefferson County District Court against Rachel Grove.

Heartfield claims she became involved in a collision with Grove on Jan. 19, 2009, after Grove failed to yield the right-of-way.

Because of the accident, Heartfield incurred medical costs, lost earnings, suffered physical impairment and emotional distress and lost her ability to enjoy life, according to the complaint.

She blames Grove for causing the accident, saying Grove failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to yield the right-of-way, lacked proper control and failed to timely apply her brakes.

Heartfield seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

J. Trenton Bond of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont will be representing Heartfield.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.

Jefferson County Circuit Court case number: E186-097.
