Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County, Feb. 22-26, 2010

A total of four new lawsuits against insurance companies regarding hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Feb. 22-26, 2010.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Joseph and Brenda Doucette of 4670 Roberts Ave. in Beaumont allege Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied their claim for roof, water, wind, contents and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Doucettes will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B186-125.

  • Grace Community Baptist Church of Fannett alleges Underwriter's at Lloyd's London denied its claim for roof, water and wind damage caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Grace Community Baptist Church will be represented by Brandon P. Monk of The Monk Law Firm in Port Arthur. Jefferson County District Court case number: B186-094.

  • Renate Istre of 475 Georgetown Drive in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Istre will be represented by E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B186-139.

  • William K. Rollins of 8695 Manion Drive in Beaumont alleges Voyager Indemnity Insurance Company denied his claims for wind damages caused to his property after determining his claim was below the deductible and from groundwater and wind driven rain. Rollins will be represented by E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B186-140.
