A Galveston County woman wants to know more about an elderly woman's death after her stay at a nursing home.

Talisa Comeaux filed a petition to take deposition to investigate potential claim in Jefferson County District Court on March 4 against Arboretum Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Winnie and against Dr. Nedrana Boutte.

Comeaux claims an unidentified person discovered Dorothy Adams seated in a wheelchair looking extremely ill at the nurse's station at Arboretum on Aug. 6.

"She (Adams) had fallen and had extremely low blood pressure," the petition states. "Her medication had been held per Danny Thompson, P.A., who was employed by Dr. Nedrana Boutte."

Adams arrived at Baptist Hospital in critical condition and suffering from septic shock, the petition says. She died on Aug. 8, Comeaux claims.

Comeaux desires that the court perpetuate testimony from the named parties because the custodian of records has refused to turn over requested documents to Comeaux or her attorneys, the petition states.

Comeaux wants the court to enter an order authorizing the petitioner to take an oral deposition of the center and of Boutte. She also seeks attorneys' fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Clay Dugas and Mike JacobEllis of Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
