Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County, March 8-12, 2010

A total of six new lawsuits against insurance companies over hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, March 8-12.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Chris Evans and Joyce Le Blanc of 1616 Ave. H in Nederland allege Texas Farmers Insurance Co. denied their claim for roof, water, wind, foundation, contents and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston will be representing them. Jefferson County District Court case number: E186-208.

  • Boyd and Wendy Lanier of 4435 Carmel Circle in Beaumont allege Farmers Insurance Group denied their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Scott Renick of Beaumont and Ken W. Lewis of Bush Lewis in Beaumont will be representing them. Jefferson County District Court case number: B186-218.

  • Sandra Richardson of 6006 Barrington Ave. in Beaumont alleges Texas Farmers Insurance Co. denied her claim for roof, water, wind, contents and structural damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Richardson will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: A186-220.

  • Betty Senemmari of 4645 Roberts Ave. in Beaumont alleges Texas Farmers Insurance Co. denied her claim for roof, water and structural damages caused to her home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Senemmari will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court: A186-261.

  • James White of 3533 Glen Drive in Beaumont alleges Texas Farmers Insurance Co. failed to compensate him for damages caused to his home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. White claims defendant Max Laird grossly miscalculated the premium for his desired insurance coverage and was unable to obtain coverage against all perils. As a result, White did not have flood coverage when the hurricane hit, according to the complaint. White will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston.   • Elma Young of 3056 Corley St. in Beaumont alleges State Farm Lloyds denied her claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Young will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: B186-221.
