Suit stems from Port Arthur wreck

A Jefferson County woman claims she sustained bodily injuries after a driver struck her.

Maria Gomez filed a lawsuit March 15 in Jefferson County District Court against Hazel Elliott Chevis.

Gomez claims she sustained the injuries during a collision on April 16 at the intersection of Woodrow Drive and Sunken Court in Port Arthur when Chevis's vehicle collided with hers.

In addition to her injuries, Gomez incurred medical costs and experienced physical pain, mental anguish and physical impairment because of the collision, the suit states.

Gomez seeks a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

John A. Carwile of The Law Office of John A. Carwile in Houston will be representing him.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
